 JOB TITLE: Testing Compliance Officer

JOB LOCATION: Northern Ireland

TERMS: Permanent

REQUIREMENTS: On-site, field based

 

THE JOB

This role requires an individual who is seeking to invest in their career. Working directly with the Quality Compliance team, you will be required to ensure the quality of the Fibre Test results submitted by the build contractors, verify test results in the field and be responsible for the completion of full town Light Testing before release to sales. You will also be required to highlight any build and/or Health & Safety defects you come across while conducting the Light testing schedule. This role will suit a robust engineer who enjoys a varied workload as the role involves desk analysis of test results as well as in field tests.

 WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

  •  Direct involvement in the Light Loss Contractor Process:
  • Updating the master tracker for light loss volumes
  • Storing and filing of Light Loss and supporting documentation
  • Technical review of OTDR results and MPT’s ILOM results (desktop review of results).
  • Ensure all test results are within acceptable parameters
  • Manage results that are not acceptable with Build contractors until issue rectified
  • Work with Build contractors to help complete non-compliant test results
  • Periodically conduct audits and review test results, in field, to ensure executed testing is conducted to required standards (Using OTDR & Light source)
  • Duly notify management of conditions that do not meet set standards
  • Highlight any non-compliance with specified PIA ‘Engineering Principles’ and H&S standards, while on site
  • Conduct interviews, scrutinise details, and ask questions to make sure contractors make every effort to stay compliant
  • Write and distribute documents that educate others on how to improve compliance
  • Assist with training and supporting operatives
  • Direct involvement in the Build Complete Testing Process:
  • Conduct in Field Light tests using a light meter on both UG and Pole equipment
  • Conduct in Field Internet Speed test using a test router (E2E traffic test on an OLT)
  • Storing and filing of Light and Speed Test results and supporting documentation
  • Duly notify management of conditions that do not meet set standards
  • Working closely with the NOC on any complex network investigative issues prior to in-life adoption of the OLT
  • Supporting build teams with any concerns or queries on fibre quality
  • Support as-built process
  • Support management with any ad hoc requests
  • Willing to travel anywhere in Northern Ireland and be flexible with time management

 WHAT WILL YOU BRING?

The successful candidate will come from a field-based telecommunications role with an extensive background working on the physical infrastructure coupled with in depth knowledge of the fibre product. You will need to have an extensive Fibre splicing and testing background with sound knowledge of Health & Safety standards and fibre quality, be IT literate, customer service focused and have excellent communication skills. You must be focused on delivering results and willing to go the extra mile as our customer satisfaction is key.

 Experience

  • Previous experience working on the Openreach Network or another telecommunications provider network is essential, both UG and Overhead
  • Extensive Fibre splicing and testing experience
  • Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of NRSWA & HSG47 working practices
  • Able to identity unsafe working practices and coach personnel on best practice
  • Safe working practices when dealing with hazards
  • Coaching experience
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to learn technical knowledge relating to products and services

 Desirable

  • Fully PIA Accredited for underground and overhead infrastructure – training will be required if necessary
  • Auditing field work, in-progress, and retro-perspective
  • Able to identity unsafe working practices and coach personnel on best practice
  • Previous role as an auditor in a telecoms company
  • GIS experience
