JOB TITLE: Architecture Engineer (Installation & Cabling)

JOB LOCATION: Northern Ireland/GB

TERMS: Permanent

REQUIREMENTS: Desk and Field based

 

THE JOB

This role requires an individual who is seeking to invest in their career and someone who enjoys working in a high pressure environment and working to tight deadlines.

Reporting directly to the Head of Network Infrastructure, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining a suite of specification documents for the network build cabling and installations work undertaken by Fibrus personnel and contractors. You will be required to work closely with the internal installation team, contractors, suppliers, Quality Team and Health and Safety Team to ensure that the Installations are carried out to the highest quality standard.

You will need to be familiar with legislation in relation to construction in the public highway, footway and verge, for the provision of communication services.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

  • Creating and maintaining a suite of specification documents for the network build cabling and installation of our services from the network build termination point to Single Dwellings and Multiple Dwelling Units.
  • The Specifications will include:
  • Routing of cables to the dwellings via overhead and underground.
  • The types of external cables and enclosures to be utilised.
  • The internal cable routing, enclosures and termination.
  • Network cables/cabling from the POP to the installation drop point. 
  • Creating set of specification documents for network build cabling, that includes cabling from the local Point Of Presence (POP) to the connection point for installations.
  • Working with the Contractors and Quality team to ensure the standards are met.
  • Working with Contractors and Suppliers to implement new products / products that will increase efficiency/drive betterment into the business.
  • Working with quality team and contractors to ensure that the network is built for longevity.
  • Implementing inspection routines where necessary.
  • Support the wider team with conducting interviews, scrutinising details, and asking questions to make sure field teams and contractors make every effort to stay compliant with regulatory and in-house requirements.
  • Writes and distribute ‘Tool-box’ talk documents to educate field operatives on processes/ procedures.
  • Work with Contractors and the PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access) team to ensure that we are compliant when performing civils activities within the Openreach (or other operator) network.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING?

You will come from a service/installation role with a background of installing or maintaining services in customer homes. The candidate will need to have experience in generating operational documents (or specifications) that were used as reference documents for specific activities. A knowledge of telecommunication networks would be an advantage. You will have sound knowledge of Health & Safety standards when working in the public highway. You must be focused on delivering results and willing to go the extra mile as our customer satisfaction is key.

Experience

  • Telecommunications network – preferably in the area of installations and/or network service.
  • Good understanding of Quality and Compliance policies.
  • Previous experience designing and implementing processes and policies.
  • Reporting.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of NRSWA working practices.
  • Able to identity unsafe working practices and coach personnel on best practice.
  • Safe working practices when dealing with hazards.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to learn technical knowledge relating to products and services.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
  • Organisational skills and the ability at any stage to manage changing priorities within tight deadlines while ensuring quality output and delivery of results.
  • Third level Education in subject field and/or demonstrable experience.
